This video led me to a deep reflection on life, death, and the essence of living.
Watching as the artist pushed a massive block of ice under the scorching sun until it melted into nothing, I couldn’t stop thinking about his words:
Sometime making something leads to nothing.
How can making something ultimately lead to nothing?
Using systems thinking, I zoomed out and looked at my life from start to end. This broader perspective helped me grasp the true essence of what the artist was conveying.
In life, we invest so much time, effort, and spirit into actions that may seem futile at the end. What gives these actions meaning and sustains us? This question resonated with me deeply, bringing to mind a friend’s comment that I’m a professional coddiwompler—a person who embraces purposeful wandering. Isn’t that what life is about?
Not the start, nor the end, not even the journey, but truly who you become and who you help while you journey through life!
This reflection made me realize the profound impact a coach (just like the video mirrored out an action and asked us to reflect on it) can have in creating moments of awareness and clarity about life’s meaning. Without such guidance, would anyone have reached this understanding on our own? I doubt it.
