Purposeful Coaching with Colin (CIO, HCSA Community Services)

Making an impact to people through a purposeful coaching process.

Almost half a year ago, I raised my hand when ITMA was calling for volunteer to participate in a 1 year National Council of Social Service (NCSS) mentoring programme for senior IT leaders in the social service sector.

I have the privilege and honour to be paired up with Colin Liaw, Director of Digital Transformation in HSCA Community Service as my mentee.

Colin is driven and highly competent and well respected in his works in HSCA. When we first met, I initially wonder how can I value add to his development as leader through coaching/mentoring given all the amazing works that he has already done.

This doubt soon got replaced with the joy and purpose of our collective joint-venture in transforming the different areas of Colin’s personal and professional development through coaching and mentoring. It was really an experience unlike no other. For me, I had learnt much from the experiences especially as a coach and discovered ways on how I can make deep impact to the lives of another.

It wouldn’t come as a surprise that before long, Colin and I have developed deep camaraderie and friendship among ourselves. To the extent that he is referring his family member to me for coaching. 😛

Today, a sense of gratefulness overwhelmed me especially towards the many people who placed their trust and belief in my coaching ability to make a difference in their lives. One of them is obviously, Colin Liaw. Thank you my friend. Words can’t expressed my deep sense of gratitude towards you and I will do everything I can to continue to cherish this trust. 🙂

While there is still much unknown on where our coaching/mentoring engagement will take us in the next half year, one thing that is for sure is that the journey will turn out to be enormously and exceedingly purposeful and meaningful for both of us. Such is, in my view, a life well lived for me and I believe for Colin too.
